Now the behavior is like this:

In [1]: var("tau")
Out[1]: τ

In [2]: ccode((2*tau)**Rational(7,2))
Out[2]: '8*pow(2,(1.0/2.0))*pow(tau,(7.0/2.0))'

In [3]: ccode(sqrt(x))
Out[3]: 'pow(x,(1.0/2.0))'
