That's really nice.  One thing I noticed from experimenting is that x  
doesn't need to
be positive for it to work but merely real.  That's pretty important for my  
case:

In [37]: x = sympy.Symbol('x', real = True)

In [38]: log(2*exp(x)).expand()
Out[38]: x + log(2)
