Oscar, itex does not support \sqrt[n]{x} (it has a \root{n}{x} command
though, see
http://xbeta.org/wiki/show/itex+fractions+superscripts+and+subscripts).
Could you
please add a conditional to make the behavior depend on whether or not
itex=True?
