Oh, definitely. The typical approach is to add a new unit clause with the decision variable / value and run a full unit prop at the start of the loop. Once issue 1545 and this one are dealt with, I plan on refactoring that scheme as you suggest.

It would also speed things up since unit prop can be more efficient if you try to handle multiple literals at the same time (fewer passes through the list of clauses).
