Simple fix to this issue is available on polys10 branch commit ad13be, e.g.:
In [1]: Poly(x, x).subs(x, y)
Out[1]: Poly(y, y, domain='ZZ')
In [2]: Poly(1, x).subs(x, y)
Out[2]: Poly(1, y, domain='ZZ')
To simplify logic, in some cases, subs() will return an expression:
In [3]: Poly(x*y).subs(x, y)
Out[3]:
2
y
Note that this might be improved in future (to return a polynomial with ZZ
domain).
