Vinzent, I'm sorry to do this, but while reviewing outstanding NeedsReview
issues of mine I saw that I had this already handled (without the new subs)
in branch 2039. So I am pushing that in place of 1729. I checked it in 2.7
and it fails in the right way (without the infinite recursion) and all
other tests pass.
