This all works in master (and will in the next release, coming soon),
thanks to the new polys:
In [2]: factor(1/(x**2 + x))
Out[2]:
1
─────────
x⋅(1 + x)
In [3]: factor(1/x + 1/x**2)
Out[3]:
1 + x
─────
2
