I would expect 1/2 from both cases below:
>>> (y*(1+x)/2).extract_multiplicatively(y*(1+x))
>>> (y*x/2).extract_multiplicatively(y*x)
1/2
The 1/2 is not being autodistributed, so that's not the problem (unless
expand is being used within the extraction routine0:
>>> y*(1+x)/2
y*(x + 1)/2
