I don't think that it makes sense for Piecewise to hold tuples, and as
such, I vote for Mathematica like syntax:
Piecewise((expr_i, cond_i), ..., otherwise_expr)
and I am -1 on the maple like syntax. Default argument, that Andy suggested
is ok with me too.
