I saw that in one of Mateusz presentations. I had that and Wilkonson't polynomial in mind as I worked. I wasn't able to put my hands on the Gruntz expression, however...but knowing that it's in the thesis, I think I have a copy here.
As to closing...I think this can be left open, because if Abs can't decide if something is zero or not (and it did so wrongly with this expression) it should leave the Abs in place.
