New issue 3359 by [email protected]: SymPy Live: Issues with "Privacy" and
the recent searches feature
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=3359
The "Privacy" setting in SymPy Live controls if the inputs are saved in the
global recent searches. But it doesn't look like a lot of people are using
the feature (all but two of the ten current recent searches are by me). I
think part of the reason is that it's not clear what "Privacy" means, and I
don't think anyone would disable it without knowing.
So I think the option should be renamed to something like "Save searches in
Recent Searches", where "Recent Searches" links to the recent searches
box. This doesn't make it clear that the searches are saved globally
(i.e., visible to all users of the site), however. So any suggestions here?
Also, even with this, I don't think the feature will be used unless it's on
by default. So should we consider doing this?
As a middle ground, I think we should at the very least save by default
executed statements from the Sphinx extension, as there is no privacy issue
there (in fact, there's probably not even a need to offer an option there).
Finally, "Recent searches" isn't a good name, as they aren't really
searches. We need a better name than searches.
