Actually, I did have a branch to change these to warnings instead of errors. The statsmodels folk had a problem where their standard deviation was a complex expression. SymPy couldn't deduce that the expression was positive even though that had set all of the assumptions correctly. In this use case SymPy stats fails unnecessarily. This should be fixed.
