This is very pertinent issue since I just committed kbins which depends on this. I think this is different, because an empty set rather than None is being returned, and as you point out, there are some partitions missing. We probably just need to check the Knuth reference to see where we went wrong in implementing this. That, or we might be able to file a bug report to Knuth!
