So maybe a heuristic dictionary with entries like
(func, arg_func): hints to expand fully
could be used, e.g.
(lambda x: isinstance(x, (sin, cos)), lambda x: x.is_Mul): mul, trig
(lambda x: x.is_Mul, lambda x: any(xi.is_Add for xi in x.args)): mul
