New issue 3740 by [email protected]: Don't use \times in latex

In [2]: latex(3*4**x)
Out[2]: 3 \times 4^{x}
This prints as 3 X 4^x, with a big X for \times, which looks really bad. It
should just use a dot instead (what is the correct LaTeX for that?).
