It is intensional. Click on the "source" button to the right of the
function definition. Whenever there are spaces between lines in the
examples, Sphinx renders them as separate blocks, and SymPy Live just grabs
each block. Quite a few doctests in the polys are done this way.
I agree that splitting the docstrings like this is not very good. That
particular docstrings should be in no more than three blocks: imports, f
and g stuff, and R_f and R_g stuff.
