Regardless of the form of the solutions, ask should not return wrong results.

As to the form of the solutions, it probably could be simpler. But also note that while it is mathematically true that every cubic with real coefficients has a real root, and that the roots of every cubic can be expressed in radicals, it is not true that the real root can always be expressed in terms of radicals not containing sqrt(-1).
