New issue 4055 by [email protected]: Unable to calculate numerical value
of the integral
http://code.google.com/p/sympy/issues/detail?id=4055
I am unable to find the numerical value LCB in the the below mentioned code.
It would be great if someone could help me figure out where I am going
wrong.
Please find below my code.
draft_keel = 10.5
draft_TOS = 12.5
length_spar = 500.0
rad_spar =48.5
# x is the integration variable distance along the length of the
# spar starting from keel
x = Symbol('x')
h_of_x = draft_keel + (draft_TOS-draft_keel)/length_spar*x
expr = 0.5*rad_spar**2*2*acos((rad_spar-h_of_x)/rad_spar) -
sqrt(rad_spar**2-(rad_spar-h_of_x)**2)*(rad_spar-h_of_x)
# this is the underwater volume in ft^3
under_water_vol=integrate(expr,(x,0,584))
# this is the displacement in kips
displacement = under_water_vol*.064
exprx=expr*x
# this is the LCB(in ft) of the spar hull (cylinder only)
LCB = integrate(exprx,(x,0.0,584.0))/under_water_vol
