OK.  Thanks.  I finally got it by using jython 2.50b rather
than the production version of jython and then running
the Windows installer of sympy and issuing 'jython setup.py'
where setup.py is in sympy.  Suggest that an actual console
session log showing the installation of jython and sympy be
included in the installation documentation to clarify
the steps, which versions of each component are required,
etc.
