Yes, definitely, use rst. The only problem is that it is not super convenient to make sure you have enough "-" for the headings, as github doesn't use monospace fonts for that. What I do is that if I need to make sure all is correct, I just download it as a git repo, fix it in vim, and upload back. It takes just couple seconds, so it's not a big deal.
