So where is the source code for the open source ones? If you are interested in GSoC, the first thing you should do is make a patch for SymPy, as we require this. See https://github.com/sympy/sympy/wiki/GSoC-2013-application-template.
You should also discuss your GSoC idea in more detail here on the mailing list, so that you can develop a good project proposal for it.
