Hi, Go on with your plan and checkout the suggested projects projects on the wiki. There was some interest already concerning the ODE module but do not hesitate to propose a project for it. The Linear Algebra module (i.e. the matrix module) has a lot that can be done for it as well. If you are interested in pattern matching check out the recent blog posts (planet.sympy.org) and pull request concerning pattern matching and unification.
