Pardon me for my ignorance, but my knowledge of lie groups is limited to
the solving of differential equations. However it seem a really good idea.

And I don't think that actual finding of lie groups is used in differential
equations, it is just the application that is used in finding
infinitesimals, as mentioned in my post which are used for making
transformations.
