Hi all .

I went through the ideas list for GSOC 2013. Group theory caught my eye and 
I want to go ahead with it for GSOC . Regarding my background in the 
subject , I have done a thorough full semester worth of Group theory and am 
decently versed with Groups, Rings and Fields. 



I have these questions - 

Is there an implementation of rings and fields already in the sympy library?
I tried to search for Rings and Fields. There is an implementation of 
polynomial rings in the polynomials module but apart from that I could not 
find a reference anywhere. If not , what is the scope of implementing them 
and how much am I expected to do in the summers.



Implementation of Permutation Groups?
Some functions implemented in the Permutation Groups can be done more 
efficiently using the cycle notation. The Permutation class has a feature 
for cycle notation but surprisingly it's used in only a handful of 
functions. Am I missing something here?  



If I go ahead with this project , what should I focus for my application ?
By this I mean , should I elaborate on my ideas and algorithms or should I 
also give details of implementation ideas. I am sorry for this basic 
question, but I am a beginner.


How do I compile the sympy library and generate a patch?
I think I might have found one , but I am not able to check my code and am 
completely stuck here.
