Do you want to do something like >>> e.evalf(20) ... >>> e.evalf(40) ... where the second evalf() reuses the results of the first one? I don't see how that could work, because you are doing the calculations on completely different sets of machine numbers. On the other hand, evalf() internally adapts the precision to get the desired accuracy, so maybe it could somehow reuse the less precise results.
