You might want to consider implementing different coordinate systems by defining a metric tensor (g_ij), see link - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metric_tensor from which all tangent vectors can be derived using the Christoffel symbols - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christoffel_symbols
