Aravind,

You are only required to submit a single patch to prove that you have a
feeling for our development workflow. We will judge you primarily on your
proposal quality. If you write a great proposal you can get selected with
only a single patch. It doesn't hurt to try submitting more patches
especially ones that are related to your proposal as it will help you get a
better idea of what should be in your proposal. It will also allow you to
engage directly with the community.
