I already see an improvement!
I tried modifying the ODE transformer code you sent me to use x=cosh(t),
and at 1.6 the resultant expression didn't simplify properly, but at 1.7
it does. I guess someone put an improvement into trigsimp (which I
discovered works for the hyperbolic functions too).
