I have the same problem on Linux system
The ssl synpase didn't working properly with me too... see ([HTTPS]: 
Looking for a ssl http client [fpc-pascal]) thread
Currently the only way for me is to implement ssl is to use Tcurl 
freepascal pas about using curl libraries.
