I had this problem before..
User agent solution I think worked.

There is also a plugin for Mozilla that you can watch HTTP headers to see
visually exactly what the web browser is doing.. then you can emulate this using
synapse/curl etc.

I used this to log into Ebay.. one of the most complicated bloated websites to
log into!!!
Ebay gives javascript error.. but I find a way to get in ;)
