Lukas, Would be nice if you can add support for GnuTLS, in order to avoid having to use OpenSSL. OpenSSL isn't GPL compatible and would require an exception clause; but also means this transfers down to other GPL'ed code, of which some authors might not agree. Debian had a major headache about this issue..
