i wanted to follow up on this and say that i've also brought my OS/2 EMX DLLs
up
to the same version that my w2k box (where i do most of my development) is
using... those being openssl 0.9.8o 01 Jun 2010... i was able to obtain these
off of a japanese fellow's skybox site where he has numerous versions available
already compiled for EMX... using these also required that i add an additional
two DLLs from the archive which seem to have previously been parts of
crypto.dll
and ssl.dll... so now i have the following EMX DLLs in the project directory...

   crypto.dll
   cryptssl.dll
   open_ssl.dll
   ssl.dll

all from his 0.9.8o-20101004 archive... i honestly didn't think that it would
work but it was worth a try to ensure that both w2k and OS2 eCS2 were using the
same DLL versions... however, the w2k version does not require the additional
two DLLs... it is, in fact, using the 0.9.8o DLLs from OpenOffice 3 ;)

in any case, the error reported on OS2 is still the same... "Network is
subsystem is unusable"... which seems to be a 10091 error code,
WSASYSNOTREADY...

i'm pretty sure that the changes to the synapse files are going to be needed by
anyone willing to assist in this... i'm not going to attach them to any
postings
unless asked... i don't want to step out too far and give too much info that
may
not be needed or may distract from the problem at hand ;)
