Hi Voc,
As I told you, I will work today on the realization of a HOWTO about Synce under KDE... Any suggestion is welcome, and on my side I will test my indications on an empty system to be sure nothing is lacking. As for now, I've noticed a few problem/suggestions in the last few days: I did understand some problem I had when compiling kcemirror, which for sure is of the same type as that for syncekonnector (see below). I also present a short suggestion for Raki's "install cab" functionality. Regards, Marc ______________________________________________________________ 1) When I try to compile cvs sources, there is no bootstrap, and the command "make -f Makefile.cvs" answers: > This Makefile is only for the CVS repository > This will be deleted before making the distribution > > *** YOU'RE USING automake (GNU automake) 1.9.6. > *** KDE requires automake 1.5 > make[1]: *** [cvs] Erreur 1 > make: *** [all] Erreur 2 2) With release 0.1.4, the following happens a) I need to specify the prefix explicitly ("./configure --prefix=/opt/kde3"), which is NOT the case for synce-kde, for example... Otherwise, it gets installed into /usr/local/kde/bin or something like, which is not consistent with my kde directory b) No problem during ./configure, however, make does not succeed. The error message is > g++ -Wnon-virtual-dtor -Wno-long-long -Wundef -Wall -pedantic -W > -Wpointer-arith -Wmissing-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -ansi > -D_XOPEN_SOURCE=500 -D_BSD_SOURCE -Wcast-align -Wconversion -O2 > -fno-exceptions -fno-check-new -o kcemirror imageviewer.o cescreen.o > decoder.o rledecoder.o huffmandecoder.o xordecoder.o rapiwrapper.o > kcemirror.o -lkdeprint -lkio -lkdeui -lrapi -lsynce -Wl,--rpath > -Wl,/opt/kde3/lib -Wl,--rpath -Wl,/usr/lib/qt3/lib -Wl,--rpath > -Wl,/usr/X11R6/lib > /usr/lib/gcc/i586-suse-linux/4.0.2/../../../../i586-suse-linux/bin/ld: > cannot find -lkdeprint collect2: ld returned 1 exit status That is, it does not find the kdeprint library. Note that I could compile it on my own as follows: entering in the kcemirror directory, issuing the former command with an added "-L /opt/kde3/lib"... and comming back to make, make install in the parent directory. 3) This is a separate topic - a mere suggestion. I noticed that, when selecting in konqueror "Install cab file" in the contextual menu of a cab file, if no pda is connected, then simply nothing happens. Wouldn't be appropriate to give a warning ? Or even better, in the case there is 0 or 1 pda connected, could the default destination appear in the contextual menu ? I've now idea about how complicated it how be, but the result is that we would gain one click... ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc.
