Hello.

I refer to the walkthrough at
"http://synce.sourceforge.net/synce/howto.php";
In this walkthrough, I am told to send you an e-mail if some conditions
does not apply as expected. Therefore I am sending you this letter.

When trying synce(tm) on my computer, I get the following results:

While doing the commands

"cat /proc/bus/usb/devices > /tmp/before"
"cat /proc/bus/usb/devices > /tmp/after"
"diff /tmp/before /tmp/after"

I get this output:

23a24,31
 > T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 2 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
 > D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff MxPS=16 #Cfgs= 1
 > P: Vendor=03f0 ProdID=1016 Rev= 0.00
 > C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 2mA
 > I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=(none)
 > E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
 > E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms

Going further to the section called "The Driver entry":
I suppose that the kernel driver does not recognize my device, and so I
am sending an e-mail (this letter), and following "Appendix A" as
described in the walkthrough. After the adjustments is done, I do the
above mentioned method once more, and get this output:

23a24,31
 > T: Bus=03 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=01 Cnt=01 Dev#= 3 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
 > D: Ver= 1.00 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff MxPS=16 #Cfgs= 1
 > P: Vendor=03f0 ProdID=1016 Rev= 0.00
 > C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr= 2mA
 > I: If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=ff(vend.) Sub=ff Prot=ff Driver=ipaq
 > E: Ad=81(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
 > E: Ad=02(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms

And so I guess that the driver is now recognized.

Reaching section "7. Testing the connection", I get the error-message:

"pstatus: Unable to initialize RAPI: An unspecified failure has occurred"

I have not yet tried to "get help", but I choose to notify you of this
error-message, as I think this error may occur due to the fact that my
device has not been compatible with synce(tm) before I believe that bugs
and errors like the one mentioned could be results of incompatibility
with my specific device at this point. Hopefully you will be able to fix
this kind of errors with the help of this feedback, and similar.

Anyway, my device did connect without errors at section "6. Starting the
connection". So I guess that the driver should work properly with some
small adjustments.

I hope that you find this information useful.
