The US has (I think) CDMA/EVDO and GSM/HSPDA. I found out the hard way that
the uk has GSM/HSPDA - I bought an EVDO card from ebay because all the sites
said it was compatible with linux. Only it could never pick up a signal in
the UK -_-...

So I /think/ you need to avoid Sprint as they sell EVDO...

Iain, in the UK Three have launched Turbo-3 which is HSPDA. Its pretty cool.
I also heard that if I roam to a Three in a different country it doesnt cost
any more \o/
