If you want to add more features to the pywbxml wrapper code, I personally don't see a problem with it, but I'm also not the original author of the code. Perhaps someone else has a better answer for this?
If you want to change the underlying libwbxml library and contribute changes to that, you'll have to get in touch with its author. That's the part we were having trouble with -- I had submitted our patches, but after more than a few months, they were still not applied and I did not hear back about their status (hence our reason to drop the dependency).
