thanks for the recent svn commits - trayicon is more stable now!

This wasn't necessary.  From svn today trayicon no longer crashes when I
select "view device status".  The "Partners" tab is empty (which you
know about).  "System information" has most details, and "Power" shows
my battery charge.

When I click "Refresh" I get this console output:
** (synce-trayicon:6515): CRITICAL **:
partners_setup_view_store_synceng: Error getting partnership list from
sync-engine: The name org.synce.SyncEngine was not provided by
any .service files

I'm happy to test more when you're next available!
