In gen-autotools.sh, the checksource() sub-routine breaks the use of git
bisect. It does not allow for one to be on a detached HEAD which is where git
bisect leaves you.
Example output is..
fatal: '110dc763928b3cd7d49451f4563e28eb0ab9a058' - not a valid ref
Perhaps this should be used only during make distcheck?
