That installation only works on older Maemo releases. For Maemo 5/N900, install directly from Maemo Extras: http://maemo.org/packages/view/syncevolution/ I assume this works by enabling that repo on the device in the package manager. Sorry for the somewhat incomplete syncevolution.org website.
