What data format does the server support for calendar? Funambol core
sources support iCalendar 2.0, but the Zimbra ones might not.

Try
  type = todo:text/x-vcalendar!
  type = calendar:text/x-vcalendar!

That will tell the server that vCalendar 1.0. If that doesn't help, then
you'll have to ask the Zimbra guys for help regarding that error message
above.
