I currently use autotools as provided by Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, the build
platform for syncevolution.org binaries. I could prepared the source on
a newer distro, but I the latest automake that Ubuntu or Debian
currently offer is only 1.11.6.

Would 1.11 perhaps be good enough, too? What specific feature of
automake is needed for aarch64?
