Well, this seems to work. At Memotoo they have a demo account which one can use. I successfully tested various syncs in both directions between their site and Evolution. This was Memotoo, not Funambol, but I don't suppose it makes much difference. I didn't test with the phone, as nothing changes on that side. Now, if I'm to end up with Evo 3.8 on my production PC, it will uninstall my current Syncevolution in the process, and I'll have to reinstall it from the above PPA. I hope my settings will be preserved in the progress. Thanks for pointing me to S. Heinlein's PPA.
