Hello! It was brought to my attention that syncevolution.org packages no longer can be installed in Ubuntu >= Saucy 13.10. That's because the packages depend on libical0, which was replaced by libical1 and is no longer available.
I need to check whether the library ABI change is severe enough to break SyncEvolution and, if it works, need to release updated binaries. The binaries open the library dynamically, so they can run with a variety of actual libs as long as the relevant ABI is still the same. In the meantime, users have to compile from source against the latest Ubuntu if they want features (like KDE support, recent enhancements) not enabled by or available in the binary shipped by the distro. Ubuntu essentially just copies the packaging done by Tino Keitel, who recently said that he is willing to enable KDE support if he can get help testing that. See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=682520 Please reply to [email protected] or here if you can help with that. -- Best Regards, Patrick Ohly The content of this message is my personal opinion only and although I am an employee of Intel, the statements I make here in no way represent Intel's position on the issue, nor am I authorized to speak on behalf of Intel on this matter. _______________________________________________ SyncEvolution mailing list [email protected] https://lists.syncevolution.org/mailman/listinfo/syncevolution
