We were following a similar 'convention' at Directory :
- each new bug in JIRA had an associated test called DirServerXXXX()
using the JIRA name and number
We stopped using it for many reasons :
- first, not all the JIRA have an associated test
- second, when you read the tests, the name gives you no clue about what
the test is supposed to check unless you jump into the JIRA
- last, not least, if you add the JIRA number in the commit, then the
link is created so it's not really needed anymore to add the JIRA's name
in the test
- if you move the JIRA from one space to another, then there is no more
link with the code, and you will get a test with a meaningless name
At the end of the day, what is important is that you have a JIRA with
the link to the test, which will be done automatically.
I can't call that a best practice, though, it's much more the result of
our own experience.
If you prefer naming the tests using the JIRA name, no problem.
