Hi Everyone, I've been super busy with real life lately (19 speaking engagements for Amazon in Q1 alone), but I'm still working on Syndic8 behind the scenes -- keeping the machine running, dealing with lost logins, and all sorts of other fun stuff.
Last month Jury asked for the ability to find all of the feeds from a particular domain, and I have implemented that feature in the feed list (http://www.syndic8.com/feedlist.php). The search box at the bottom of the page now includes another checkbox and a text box labeled "Domain". You can enter any partial suffix of a domain name in the text box. For example, all of the following are both valid and useful: msn.com spaces.msn.com msnbc.msn.com In theory you should be able to search for "com", but this is so common that the MySQL full text retrieval returns no results for it. "edu" works, as do other less common top-level domains like "it" (Italy) and "es" (Spain). Matching is done against the domain of the feed and the domain of the feed's site (if they are different). The index is regenerated with each poll, so there could be a 24 hour delay between submission of a new feed and the time that it can be found in this way. With this new feature, it would be really interesting to start identifying some well-populated top-level domains and then make a concerted effort to review and approve feeds within that domain. What about getting all of the feeds from MSNBC approved, of all of the MSDN blogs?
