Thank you,yes, that does help allot. I think my problem is that, within the parser that I have been using, the functionality is rule based instead of utilizing the PHP XML capabilities. I hadn't noticed that before when examining the code.
The sole problem being the statement "strip_tags", which also strips comment tags and many others from RSS content feeds. I think, by rebuilding this section using the standard XML functions, everything should work more reliably. Luckily this is all back end stuff, so it shouldn't effect anyone who has actually used the script on my site, which is a bit of a relief.
