Genete made a proprosal with categories on IRC, I changed a few things :

# General
* News (discussion about synfig related news)
* General Synfig discussion (anything about synfig)

# Artwork
* Work in progress
* Finished animations or still
* Compositions and Effects (speciphic area to show special effects and
compositions) ?

# Help
* Tutorials (help on tutorials - or tutorial proposals)
* Animation related help (How do I...? part1)
* "Drawing" related help (How do I...? part2)
* General (any kind of help you need but not covered with other topics - I
guess that covers the GUI)

# Development
* Help building Synfig
* Feature Requests (please be realistic ;))
* Bugs (debugging area) (not sure this is a good idea, the bug tracker may be a
better place)
* Packaging/Builds (discussion on creating builds and packages of synfig)

# Other software

Also available here in a more "easy-to-read" form, as long as my
internet connexion doesn't die :
http://rore.dyndns.org/rore/synfig/forums.html

I think there's still room for improvement.
