Category: Usability Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: rotation of rectangles doesn't work Initial Comment: Hi ,I'm working on Synfig Studio 0.61.08. on Ubuntu. Rotation works ok for any other shapes except rectangles - i.e. those made by the rectangle tool. If i want to make a rectangle and rotate it properly i have to use the polygon tool. I think this is a bug. I noticed around some other complains about the rotation bug, but for me it concerns only the figures drawn with the rectangle tool. The others work fine , even the multi-layer complex shapes. What happens in fact: when rotating it does not rotate, instead it changes shape in a very bizzare manner :) - i.e. as if it were using the center of the figure as the simetry point and reshapeing the figure around that point. And i realy think i'm using it right as it works fine for other shapes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2008-03-17 08:59 Message: Logged In: NO Thanx for the reply. k. I see. I will try this . But still : this behaviour is not consistent everywhere. For instance a a shape drawn with the poly tool or the bline tool rotates just fine without the help of a rotation layer. So i guess functionality is provided in different manners for different objects. And this might be cataloged as "usability bug". Behavior should be homogenous i think. I know synfig implements a different approach but nonetheless rules should be consistent. The tool should work the same for all objects. I suspect there is a deep down reason why this works differently but it should be of no concern to the end user who expects an intuitive behavior. Don't get me wrong :) i think the project is great and i'm holding my breath on this. Cheers. "Layer > New Layer > Transform > Rotate". I suspect you're using the rotate tool, which just rotates the duck positions. The rectangle layer defines rectangles by 2 points: opposite corners of the rectangle. The rectangle is always at right angles to its own layer. If you want it rotated, you need to rotate the layer, not just the duck positions. I don't think this is a bug. You'll see the same behaviour with the checkerboard layer - the checks are lined up with the layer. The layer can be rotated, which will rotate the checks, but the checks can't be rotated on their own just by moving the checkerboard layer's ducks. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=757416&aid=1912943&group_id=144022 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
