Please note that this message will contain a full copy of the comment thread, including the initial issue submission, for this request, not just the latest update. Category: Binary Installation Group: None Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Private: No Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Does't install at all on OS X 10.5.8 Initial Comment: OS X 10.5.8 on a 2 x 3-core intel Xeon, though I suspect that doesn't have anything to do with it. 1. As has been noted elsewhere, the .pkg flat out doesn't work. You should probably remove it until you have one that does. 2. Using any kind of homebrew package doesn't work, as it chokes when trying to install libxml++. This is because the .rb for libxml++ that it is trying to address reads "<html><body>You are being <a href="https://raw.github.com/gist/836094/bc55e611d2ddccd33017843a182a3c4401a2cacf/libxml++.rb">redirected</a>.</body></html>". Perhaps an HTML redirect is supposed to work within the Homebrew environment. It doesn't, though. It says: Error: /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: syntax error, unexpected '<' <html><body>You are being <a hr... ^ /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: syntax error, unexpected tIDENTIFIER, expecting kDO or '{' or '(' <html><body>You are being <a href="https://raw.gi... ^ /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: syntax error, unexpected tIDENTIFIER, expecting kDO or '{' or '(' ...ml><body>You are being <a href="https://raw.github.com/gist/... ^ /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: unknown regexp options - bdy /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: syntax error, unexpected '<' ...++.rb">redirected</a>.</body></html> ^ /usr/local/Library/Formula/libxml++.rb:1: unterminated string meets end of file " But then if you'd tested the methods you're recommending, you'd know that. Plugging the address that it's trying to redirect to into Homebrew works, only to fail at the next hurdle, which I haven't even worked out what it is yet ("Hello? What do you mean you don't recognise 'git'? I installed GitHub fifteen fucking minutes ago!"). 3. Perhaps I should have joined the forum, as this isn't, strictly, a bug, but rather a complete failure of organisation. I'm just pissed off, as every time a method for installing seems not to work, you just add a new method (that doesn't work) somewhere else, and leave the old method (that doesn't work) sitting there so anyone trying to install keeps downloading files that fail, with no way of telling whether it has ever worked for anybody. I was interested in the software, but it had better be pretty fucking amazing to justify all the time wasted trying to get it installed at all, let alone working. Has anyone ever successfully installed Synfig on a Mac? Do you actually know anyone who owns a Mac, or are you just stabbing vainly in the dark? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=757416&aid=3395101&group_id=144022 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Get a FREE DOWNLOAD! and learn more about uberSVN rich system, user administration capabilities and model configuration.
