Hi!

It looks a very interesting idea because it might be a simple addition and
would allow to use external player to play the sound at the same time than the
preview withour Synfig overload.
It would be also interesting to be able to draw the audio wave on the already
removed timeline of the preview window.
I would like to mention one thing, though. In my opinion the proper video/audio
library to incorporate to Synfig (and allow to play video and audio without
external applications) is gstreamer. It is the core library of the GTK+
development suit and integrates well with gnome.
Gstreamer integration can be a bit more complicated so if the JACK-transport
addition doesn't represent a huge work it can be a good option meanwhile
gstreamer is implemented.
Good idea Zelgadis!

Asunto: [Synfig-devl] JACK-enabled preview

Hi, Jcome!
I have noticed that last time you are working intensively on preview window.
I have one feature proposal for you.
As we all know Synfig have no sound support yet.
I'm proposing to add JACK-transport to the preview window. So preview
window timeline will be synced with global JACK transport. That is a
simple modification, but this will open a lot possibilities. For
example that will allow to sync with Ardour sound editing software.
So when you hit "play" in preview window the Ardour will play sound at
the same position.
See how this approach work with blender:

See more about JACK: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/What%20is%20JACK#line-14
I think adding JACK support will open great possibilities for audio
syncronization in synfig - we can use features of other sound
applications (Ardour, Hydrogen, etc.) instead of writing our own.
Let me know what you think.
Cheers!
K.
